♊️ Google Gemini - the next big thing?
At Google I/O 2023, Sundar Pichai teased Google’s latest AI marvel, Gemini.
What's so special about it?
It’s multimodal, integrating text, images, and more for natural conversations. Think ChatGPT, but on steroids.
Jeffrey Dean, Google's Chief Scientist, also hinted that this might be the largest language model to date, with 175 billion parameters.
Demis Hassabis, DeepMind's CEO, revealed that techniques from AlphaGo could give it reasoning and problem-solving abilities, memory, fact-checking, and improved accuracy.
According to industry insiders, Gemini’s early results are promising, and its roadmap goes beyond chatbots; it aims to be your ultimate personal assistant, revolutionizing travel, work, and entertainment.
The good news: Select developers outside Google already have early access to Gemini, hinting at an impending beta release.
Even better news (maybe?): Google isn't alone in this AI race - Meta is cooking up something to rival OpenAI's GPT model.
More competition = better products, right?
Overall: Gemini could be a game-changer in natural language processing, and with DeepMind's brilliance and Google's resources, the potential is enormous.
Excited about this launch.

💾 AI needs raw materials
The generative AI revolution, ignited by ChatGPT's success in late 2022, is leading to a battle for data, with tech giants investing colossal sums to acquire invaluable training data, often scraped from the internet without consent.
This data grab extends beyond the web, threatening to disrupt the very fabric of online sharing and copyright.
Communities built on sharing knowledge, like Stack Overflow and Reddit, are witnessing declining traffic as AI models provide answers directly.
Art generation is more robotic and derivative than ever before.
And the backlash is palpable as content creators, businesses, and web entities realize their content is being exploited.
The response?
Websites are blocking web crawlers to protect their data.
Reddit is demanding payment for its valuable data source.
LexisNexis is warning against data sharing with AI models.
Even Sarah Silverman sued OpenAI and Meta for unauthorized use of her book.
Overall: AI companies are going underground to mitigate legal risks, concealing their training data sources. However, researchers are countering with AI tools that can sanitize data and measure its impact on models.
As the shadow war for data rages on, the AI landscape is at a crossroads, with ethical and legal concerns reshaping the future of AI-powered content generation.

🙅 No Trust in AI
A recent Gallup survey unveiled a startling truth – most Americans aren't buying into the AI promises businesses make.
When asked if they trust companies to handle AI responsibly, 79% responded with 'not much' or 'not at all.'
Only a mere 21% expressed 'a lot' or 'some' trust.
Even more telling is that this skepticism spans age, gender, and race, revealing a widespread lack of faith in corporate AI intentions.
Moreover, while CEOs quickly embraced generative AI, the workforce is getting more apprehensive.
22% of respondents fear technology could render their roles obsolete.
72% of 30 to 44-year-olds and 79% of 45 to 59-year-olds stated that AI will decrease the number of jobs.
Overall: The road ahead for responsible AI adoption is fraught with skepticism, and as AI evolves, bridging the trust gap between companies and their AI endeavors becomes a pressing challenge.
Still, it's a journey that companies must undertake to win back trust and maximize the potential of this technology.
