🎁 ChatGPT’s App Store moment

Yesterday, OpenAI dropped some huge news: they’re adding plug-ins to ChatGPT, allowing it to access live data from the web.

This upgrade will enable ChatGPT to browse the web, interact with websites, and complete tasks on behalf of the user, such as ordering ingredients from Instacart. There are 11 plug-ins for external sites and two from OpenAI, initially available to a small set of users.

There are security concerns, so OpenAI has implemented several safeguards, such as limiting access to a few developers and ChatGPT Plus users.

IMO, this is bigger news than the release of GPT-4 (even though GPT-4 laid the foundation for this).

🥊 Elon Musk versus Sam Altman

Curious about the tea on the Elon Musk & Sam Altman drama? 🍵 Semafor has you covered. Here’s the tl;dr:

  • Elon Musk proposed taking control of OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research firm he co-founded, but the other founders, including Sam Altman rejected it.

  • Musk stepped down from the board of directors due to a conflict of interest and withdrew his planned large donation. OpenAI then created a for-profit entity to raise money and pay for the expensive computing power necessary for its ambitious AI models.

  • Microsoft gave the company $1 billion, and this angered Musk. Altman refused to take any equity in the for-profit entity, but this decision turned off some potential investors. Musk is now starting his own AI startup.

I have a feeling this rivalry is just heating up…

Fake images of Trump arrest show ‘giant step’ for AI’s disruptive power [Washington Post] - An AI art generator was used to create fake images of former President Donald Trump being arrested that quickly spread across social media, highlighting the sophistication of AI and the ease with which false images can be used to deceive. A MESSAGE FROM LEARN.XYZ

What does AI know about you? 🤔

Good? Bad? Or is it hallucinating?

Typing in your name is a super fun way to explore Learn.xyz: They’re a learning platform that uses AI to make learning about anything fun again.

Just type in your name, and it’ll create an entire course about you, including quizzes.

(Use my code HAROON to skip the waitlist)

🙈 Don’t want to see what’s out there about you? Try any other topic, like…

  • “Who is [replace with your friend’s name]?”

  • “Why is the sky pink at sunset?”

  • “How do I make $10k/month with my own newsletter business?”

And in seconds, their app spits out an entire course with lessons, images, and quizzes. It also suggests new topics, so you’ll spend hours going down (productive) 🌪️ vortexes.

If you love to learn, this might end up on your home screen.

They’re in closed beta but are giving Not A Bot readers exclusive access to the platform with code HAROON.
