 🛩️ AI Drone Fleet

The Pentagon is gearing up for a high-stakes battle in the world of AI as it rushes to develop a cutting-edge fleet of AI-powered drones and autonomous systems.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks has sounded the alarm, emphasizing the urgent need to compete with China, which is rapidly advancing its own AI capabilities for military use.

Hicks unveiled the grand plan during a recent speech, revealing a multi-million-dollar investment to produce thousands of AI systems for deployment across land, air, and sea within just two years.

China's relentless pursuit of AI dominance has put the U.S. on high alert, with military officials branding it the top "pacing challenge."

Overall: At the heart of the Pentagon's strategy is an AI fleet focused on navigation and targeting, harnessing the power of computer vision. This includes:

  • Self-piloting ships

  • No-crew aircraft

  • AI drones that will accompany human pilots in combat.

However, the project's success hinges on funding, with concerns raised that the allocated budget may fall short of their ambitious goals.

📈 Nasdaq becomes Artificially Intelligent

Trading, but make it a little more AI.

In a groundbreaking move, Nasdaq has received the green light from the SEC to introduce the world's first AI-powered order type, Dynamic Midpoint Extended Life Order (M-ELO).

Its purpose? To revolutionize trading by utilizing AI to adapt in real-time to market conditions.

M-ELO's AI-driven capabilities promise to boost both liquidity and execution, a feat that was previously thought to be “mutually exclusive” in the trading world.

The system dynamically adjusts to the ever-changing market landscape, seeking to improve fill rates and reduce market impact.

With M-ELO, the Nasqaq also has its eyes set on enhancing efficiency and effectiveness - the AI system enhances trading efficiency with improved fill rates and reduced market impact. Its detailed analysis of trading symbols every 30 seconds promises a more agile and responsive trading experience.

Overall: While Nasdaq's shares have experienced some turbulence in 2023, the introduction of M-ELO represents a significant stride towards a smarter and more responsive financial ecosystem.

🧑‍✈️ Microsoft offers legal protection for copilot users

Much like Adobe in June and Shutterstock in July, Microsoft's AI assistant, Copilot, has initiated a new policy offering robust copyright protections to its users.

Microsoft users can harness Copilot's services and the output they generate without fretting about potential copyright claims. They are taking a proactive stance by assuming responsibility for any legal risks arising from copyright challenges.

Microsoft's official announcement stated: "Yes, you can use Copilot without worrying about copyright claims. And if any third party takes legal action against you for copyright infringement related to Copilot or its output [...] we will defend you.”

Quick note: This policy applies to paid users and content created within Microsoft's content filters and safety systems.

Overall: Microsoft's approach is rooted in responsibility and customer support, ensuring that any legal issues arising from Copilot's use become their concern, not the customer's.

This move aligns with their broader AI Customer Commitments and AI Assurance Program, designed to facilitate the responsible utilization of AI applications like Copilot and Bing Chat Enterprise.
