🪰 Adobe launches Firefly, an AI image generator

Adobe is launching a new AI image generator called Adobe Firefly, which utilizes two tools that allow users to type in prompts and have an image created in return or generate stylized text.

What’s more interesting (to me, at least) is that Adobe claims its AI models are only trained on licensed or out-of-copyright content and plans to pay artists for the data used for training. The issue of ownership in generative AI models is a hot topic, and Adobe’s approach is thoughtful. Adobe is also working on preventing any potential abuse of the tools, such as by introducing a Do Not Train system for artists.

The tools are currently in beta and are only available through a website but will eventually be integrated into the company's suite of creative apps.

💻 GitHub releases Copilot X, an AI-powered developer experience

GitHub Copilot has been a resounding success in the developer market. Yesterday, GitHub introduced Copilot X — a new AI-powered developer experience that uses OpenAI's Codex and GPT-4 model to auto-complete comments and code and help developers code up to 55% faster.

It is available throughout the development lifecycle, including pull requests, the command line, and docs. It is designed to reduce boilerplate and manual tasks and make complex work easier.

It also features chat and voice for Copilot and aims to help developers focus on the big picture and accelerate human progress.

⏪ Rewind brings ChatGPT to your personal information

Rewind's new feature, ChatGPT For Me, is a GPT-4 chatbot that allows users to interact with the data collected by the Rewind app on their computers.

It produces results based on the user's query and provides links to related information. The chatbot's data processing is done in the cloud, and there are ongoing discussions about ensuring privacy while providing a useful service.

The goal is to run the chatbot locally, without data being sent anywhere, in the future. For now, it is up to the user to decide whether the balance between privacy and convenience is acceptable.
