GitHub just unveiled Copilot Workspace - a revolutionary new environment that allows developers to build software using natural language.

This platform reimagines the entire development process, enabling developers to brainstorm, plan, build, test, and run code through simple conversations.

Here’s the TL;DR:

  • At its core, Copilot Workspace leverages advanced AI agents to understand your project requirements from the very start, generating a fully editable, comprehensive plan outlining the necessary steps.

  • Once the plan is finalized, Copilot Workspace takes care of the coding, allowing you to iterate and make changes as needed.

  • You can even run unit tests and builds directly within the workspace before submitting your pull request for review.

Overall: The Copilot Workspace promises to reduce boilerplate work and enable developers to focus on higher-level systems thinking.

OpenAI’s legal team is about to have a busy couple of months after eight prominent U.S. newspapers owned by Alden Global Capital have filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft.

The accusation? OpenAI and Microsoft are alleged to have used millions of copyrighted articles from these newspapers to train AI models like ChatGPT and Copilot without obtaining permission or providing compensation.

  • Central to the complaints is the assertion that these AI companies have misappropriated newspapers' content, removing important information like journalists' bylines.

  • The lawsuits also accuse the companies of trademark infringement and express concerns about the potential reputational damage caused by AI "hallucinations," instances in which the models fabricate false information and attribute it to the newspapers.

Overall: This legal dispute could have significant implications for the news industry and its future revenue sources in the AI era. While some publishers have chosen to enter paid agreements with AI companies, others, like the plaintiffs in these cases, are looking to set precedents that could entitle them to substantial compensation.

He predicted a 10-12% increase in Indonesia's GDP due to the "intelligence revolution."

  2. Microsoft also committed to training 2.5 million people in Southeast Asia, including 840,000 in Indonesia, in AI skills. This initiative aligns with the company's broader strategy to cultivate talent and promote AI adoption across the region.

Overall: The Indonesian government has reacted positively, with officials expressing their readiness to provide incentives to Microsoft. These incentives may match or exceed those offered in other countries, with one being providing Microsoft with a location for its research and data centers.
