π ββοΈ Google's Bard Bot Nearly Barred by Concerned Employees, Report Reveals
Today's news brings us a tale of two Google employees who attempted to put the brakes on the launch of the company's AI chatbot, Bard. According to reports, the employees were worried about the potential for Bard to generate inaccurate and dangerous statements. But it seems their concerns fell on deaf ears, as the director of Google's Responsible Innovation group allegedly altered a document to play down the risks.
Google has responded to the allegations by stating that Bard was released as a limited experiment, in part due to these very debates. However, this incident highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding the rapid development of AI products. In fact, some tech experts are calling for a six-month pause on advanced AI development to allow for a thorough examination of the risks and benefits.
So, while we wait for the AI world to catch up with the ethical implications of its own creations, let's hope that the Bard chatbot doesn't start spouting off any dangerous nonsense.

The Cyberspace Administration in China has released some draft guidelines for AI services. Basically, companies like Baidu and Alibaba will need to make sure their AI stuff is accurate, respects intellectual property, and doesn't discriminate or pose any security risks. Oh, and they also need to label any AI-generated content.
The goal of these guidelines is to make sure that AI services in China follow the rules about what kind of content is allowed. That way, there won't be any controversial or undesirable stuff floating around. While these guidelines could help companies know what's expected of them, it's still unclear how they'll affect AI development in the future. Plus, some folks are worried about Chinese companies having access to the tech they need to make really big AI models.

Meet your next Superstar Marketing hire: AI
AI is set to become an important part of marketing teams, augmenting their capabilities and allowing them to complete tasks more efficiently.
In this NAB guest post, Jocelyn DeGance experienced this firsthand when she used AI as a copy editor and helped write a bio for her company's founder under a tight deadline. AI can be used for day-to-day marketing tasks, such as lead-generation campaigns and content optimization. DeGance recommends that those in the marketing field should be prepared to discuss how AI can help increase efficiency.
AI is paving the way for a new era of innovation and business opportunities, and DeGance's next article will discuss its impact on MarTech.

I think about this quote a lot these days regarding AI:
