🎤 AI-generated Seinfeld show streaming 24/7 for weeks

Add this to the absurd and cool category.

An AI-Generated Seinfeld show, named Endless, Forever, has been running 24/7 on Twitch for the past few weeks.

The show creators are using OpenAI's GPT-3 to generate AI-generated live episodes of Seinfeld.

It has an intentionally funny and absurd look and feel. Though none of the jokes are particularly funny, the unintentionally hilarious slow-motion movement and mistimed laugh track make an entertaining experience nonetheless.

Endless, Forever is unlikely to steer Seinfeld fans away from the show they know and love, it’s still an amusing and interesting experiment. Is this a glimpse into the future of entertainment?

💬 OpenAI launches ChatGPT Plus, starting at $20 per month

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Plus, a subscription plan for its AI chatbot, starting at $20 per month.

The plan offers:

  • faster response times,

  • priority access to new features, and

  • general access to ChatGPT during peak times.

The free tier will remain available, and OpenAI is exploring options for lower-cost plans, business plans, and data packs.

Despite controversy and bans, ChatGPT is estimated to have reached 100 million monthly active users in January (two months after launch) making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history. 📈📈📈

The operating expenses for ChatGPT are high, costing a few cents per chat, so OpenAI is going to use subscription revenues to pay the bills.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT has a major political bias, and it could ruin artificial intelligence [BGR] - OpenAI's ChatGPT is an AI-based chatbot that was released in November of 2020 and can do things such as compose poems, write congressional legislation, and answer queries. Unfortunately, the program has displayed political bias, with the AI giving more detailed answers and more negative headlines when asked about Donald Trump than when asked about Joe Biden. AI models can contain political biases if the data they are trained on contains biased information or if the creators of the model have their own biases. It is important to monitor and address these biases when creating and using AI to ensure that the results are fair and unbiased.

Whispers of A.I.’s Modular Future [The New Yorker] - Whisper.cpp is a program developed by a Bulgarian programmer to transcribe audio files in more than ninety languages, with some languages capable of superhuman performance. OpenAI released the code and a detailed description of its architecture, making it possible for anyone to modify the program. Speech recognition has become a deep, difficult field, but research has revealed that simpler programs utilizing computation are more effective. Whisper.cpp has enabled journalists to save time by transcribing audio quickly and accurately, and its story demonstrates the history of A.I. and how it is becoming more accessible to ordinary people.

U.S. investors have plowed billions into China's AI sector, report shows [Reuters] - U.S. investors including the investment arms of Intel Corp (INTC.O) and Qualcomm Inc (QCOM.O) accounted for nearly a fifth of investments in Chinese artificial intelligence companies from 2015 to 2021, a report showed on Wednesday. The Biden administration is expected to unveil an executive order this year curbing some U.S. investments in sensitive Chinese tech industries, as hawks in Washington blame American investors for transferring capital and valuable know-how to Chinese tech companies that could help advance Beijing's military capabilities.
